The starting point for this project was a business idea centered on a new scanning technology. Medical invoice terminology is presented in a more user-friendly and understandable way, while reimbursements are processed faster and in real time.

Research

The foundation was a competitive analysis in which three different insurance apps were evaluated. Initial user feedback was gathered from app store reviews. Together with research into medical billing processes, this validated the underlying business idea.

Ideation, prototyping & testing

The screens for the individual use cases were initially sketched on paper to ensure a consistent customer journey. Selected screens were then implemented as a paper prototype in order to enable rapid internal testing. This was followed by a high-fidelity prototype to present the concept to customers.

Learning

Testing with a paper prototype quickly provided valuable insights. Both the simple user flow and the underlying business idea were validated. However, I would personally avoid using the folding technique in the future, as it caused confusion among test participants.
